Normalement, To push past something veut juste dire dépasser quelque chose. Mais dans votre cas, comme ce sont des joints, je dirais plutôt passer au travers.

détritus? graines? débris = too big .... It's mostly very small particles that will manage to squeeze themselves between a rotating axe and a seal. Thanks!

: il n'y a aucune mention de s'infiltrer derrière dans past, et c'est très lourd votre expression en français. On a l'impression que la poussière est maligne et qu'elle est parvenue à s'infiltrer...ce qui frise l'ineptie....
