Spanish term

posible ambliopía previa

Not sure about previa in "posible ambliopía previa" because it doesn't make sense in this context. Am I missing something?

TIA,
Juliette

Chema Nieto Castañón Feb 22, 2020:
I believe the original is saying something like "we want to inform you that there is probably a non (previously) diagnosed right eye amblyopia -which migh affect us after surgery, as it may have to be treated-, but as long as there is such a huge right/left visual acuity difference we will not be able to tell for sure until after the surgery is performed. That is why we "advertimos".

No, I agree, it doesn't seem to make much sense, warning someone about a possible previous (but no longer present) condition before performing a procedure.

possible previous ambliopia

= The patient may have had previous treatment for a "lazy eye" (ambliopia), which is quite common in young children, or used to be when I was a kid.
I don't know enough about ophthalmology to decide whether it makes sense or not, but that appears to be what it says.

So, the sentence would be something like this: "advirtiendo de una posible ambliopía previa del OD" -> "signalling/evidencing possible previous right eye amblyopia"...

Well, the problem I have is that I cannot find "previous/prior amblyopia" on any En site

however, it can develop in early childhood, so maybe they are referring to this

Lazy eye (amblyopia) is reduced vision in one eye caused by abnormal visual development early in life. The weaker — or lazy — eye often wanders inward or outward. Amblyopia generally develops from birth up to age 7 years. It is the leading cause of decreased vision among children.
