Romanian to English Medical General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters Cardiology Report
This is at the top of this short one-page report, underneath the Dr's name and the department name (Clinical cardiology for adults).

To put "Contract / Meeting" in English would look a bit odd, so can somebody explain to me what exactly this is for, rather than give a literal translation.....? (i.e. I do not need a word-for-word translation without an explanation).

@ Sinead I have put "Policy/Contract No:....". because as there are two optional terms, ie, "contract" & "conventie" would this not represent the patients preference as a state or private paying patient? Also, as our two systems are both probably so different, then surely the term POLICY does not have to necessarily refer to private health when it is used outside of our British context.....?

"Convenție" is a false friend. Convenție does not mean Convention. It means Contract. We could debate the semantics of using another synonym to have Contract/Agreement or some such, or you could just write Contract.

It most probably refers to the contractual relationship between the service user and Casa Națională de Asigurări de Sănătate

In this case I think contract would better be described in English as "policy", this is the reason why I prefer a description to a word-for-word translation. Thank you, anyway.

agree Adrian MM. : The only thing I, as a native English speaker or 'squeaker', can add is that 1. 'conventie' is a false friend with a convention meeting and 2. the UK lawyers' preference of a translation of a (non-binding) agreement for 'contract' would be tautologous.

It is a false friend, indeed. However, "convenție" seems to refer to an agreement between states, which is not the context here

Absolutely, "policy" is not the equivalent here but it is a type of contract
