كان الالتهاب الرئوي المنظم مجهول السبب (COP) يدعى سابقا التهاب القصيبات الرئوي المنظم، وهو حالة رئوية نادرة تصبح فيها المجاري الهوائية الصغيرة (القصيبات) والحويصلات تبادل الغازات الدقيقة (الحويصلات الهوائية) وجدران الشعب الرئوية الصغيرة ملتهبة ومسدودة بأنسجة ضامة. هذه الحالة تسمى "مجهول السبب" لأن المتسبب فيها غير معلوم.
