When filling or carrying the kettle, do not tilt it backwards, as this may allow water to pass through the steam tube onto the control area. Should this happen, the kettle must be allowed to dry before re-using. To avoid the risk of splashing, once the kettle has boiled wait 10 seconds then pour slowly.

Don't tilt the kettle backwards - water might get on to the control area. If this happens, let the kettle dry before use - sit it somewhere warm for 12 hours.
When you lift the kettle, you may see moisture on the stand. Don't worry - it's steam used to switch the lettle off automatically, which then condenses and escapes via vents under the kettle.
