This is from a text on how laws have been manpiulated in Argentina to take lands from Indigenous peoples.
Permutar and the noun form permutas appear as follows. I understand the idea, but wonder if there is a specific term in English:
En 1981, en una carta del Ministerio de Gobierno, se informa que los trabajos de mensura se encuentran suspendidos hasta que se resuelva un ofrecimiento verbal formulado por los señores XXXX sobre permutas de terrenos en la zona de la expropiación.

Los residentes tienen conciencia de la calidad de sus tierras, mientras que las que se les ofrecían en permuta eran estériles.

Ese año, un informe del Departamento de Colonización desrecomendaba la permuta, señalando la mala calidad de los terrenos ofrecidos.
