Your first link, Colin, is about a "... a perched caisson wall over shotcrete
shoring system"... It is related with a foundation, not related to the bridge structure (piles and beams, I imagine)". Your second link, slide 7, confirms, the perched caisson is 15 feet below water level (foundation).
