Italian term

il supporto all'amministratore

Italian to English Law/Patents Law (general) clinical trials
This is from the signature page of an informed consent form for a clinical trial.
I'm not sure what this means in this context. A literal translation (support to/for the administrator) does not appear to be appropriate:
In caso di delega, in qualità di rappresentante legale, **il supporto all’amministratore**, lo sperimentatore avrà cura di verificare che l’ordine di custodia del giudice di sorveglianza in materia di tutela dei casi comprenda anche la tutela della salute del soggetto.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

There is an error here I think Daniel's probably right. There is no way that this makes sense in Italian. The most likely error I can see is also "il" being written instead of "in"... but shouldn't this be "attorney" rather than "administrator"?

Obviously, the Investigator is being asked to check the powers of attorney/guardianship, but I'm not sure why there are two figures here. Usually the "amministratore di sostegno" is the "rappresentante legale".

Yes, I think you are probably right - the legal term, ’l'amministratore di sostegno' is what was meant by the writer of my document. Thanks so much for your detective work!

Hi Penny, I found another informed consent form online which seems to be saying more or less the same thing using different terms:

"In caso sia designato l’amministratore di sostegno, il medico sperimentatore avrà cura di verificare che l’ordinanza di affidamento da parte del
giudice tutelare comprenda la tutela della salute dell’amministrato."

Yes, I wondered if a punctuation or other error was involved - perhaps it should have read il supporto all'amminstratore o lo sperimentatore...?
philgoddard Mar 29, 2021:
It's not really medical or legal terminology, it's a job title. I wonder if the comma after "amministratore" should be a slash, or the word "o".

@ Penny I think this might get a good response if it was directed as a medical question, under a law sub-field, rather than the other way round.

What if "IL supporto" is a typo for "IN supporto"?
