Along each of the edges (but spaced therefrom for reasons described hereinafter) of the plate 154 is welded or otherwise suitably attached (prior to the pouring and molding of the refractory block 132) a suitably sized and shaped refractory holding plate 160, which may, for example, be 10 gauge steel, which extends inwardly from and normal to the plate 154 for a short distance to engage the refractory block 132 then tapers at the angle 158 so that the four plates 160 will hold the thereafter poured and molded refractory block 132 in place.
