My question is from the same passage I just posted about from a Palestinian novel. In this scene the mother is expressing how sad and hurt she'll be when her daughter leaves.

وسوف يدوس على وجودي غير الواثق بخطوات ثقيلة متراخية، كما سوق يخز في ورحي أيما حز، علماً بأني كنت هيأت نفسي، الأمّارة بالقسوة والصلابة الظاهرية

I'm struggling with this last part:
الأمّارة بالقسوة والصلابة الظاهرية

What is الأمّارة in this context please?
