Spanish term or phrase: judío advenedizo
This is a specific reference to a figure that Hannah Arendt contrasts to the Jew as pariah. The footnote reads:
Aludo al concepto arendtiano de judío paria, que se distingue del judío advenedizo. Como expliqué más arriba, la filósofa tomó esta figura del libro de Bernard Lazare Le fumier de Job (El estercolero de Job) Circé, Paris, 1996. El sionismo se ubicó en la tradición advenediza y el poeta palestino, en esta cita, le recuerda la dignidad del paria.

I am seeing outsider, but that seems so close to pariah. Foreigner?

Jewish arriviste

Explanation:
As per Neilmac in the discussion entries, euphemistic in the UK means setting the right tone and register for 'posh' philosophical discourse, for instance at intellectual and academic parties in and around Hampstead Heath in London NW3, rather than at North London football grounds, like Tottenham Hotspur.

Example sentence(s):
  • From his middle- to lower middle-class Jewish arriviste perspective, he devotes considerable space to intercommunal disputes.
  • When the house eventually passed to the Belgian state, the authorities painstakingly removed all remaining relics of the arriviste (and Jewish) Philippsons, restoring the château to its original 18th-century glory. It is now a major tourist attraction.

  -> Thanks, gràcies and gracias, Andy. My reference to the 1980s hit single of NW3/ Anarchy in the UK seems to have gone amiss.

agree  neilmac: Hmm, "arriviste", nice... ("the French have a word for it")...

  -> Thanks and gracias, Neil. Arriviste would also certainly be understood in North London.

the English rendering of the abstract is more than iffy but "Jewish parvenu" might do it

agree  neilmac: Parvenu, being more recondite, comes across as less offensive/denigrating than "upstart" IMHO (https://wikidiff.com/parvenu/upstart)
