Italian term

calone

Italian to English Science Biology (-tech,-chem,micro-)
I can't seem to find the En equivalent of the Italian calone, which has the following meaning:

1. Termine con il quale si indicano sostanze normalmente contenute nei tessuti, dotate di azione antimitotica, cioè inibente la riproduzione delle cellule.

2. BIOL Sostanza versata nel sangue dalle ghiandole endocrine, con il potere di inibire una funzione organica...

In English calone does exist but it means something else entirely

I'm wondering if anyone has come across this before and can help with the translation.

Because Your dictionary extract gives two definitions.
Ivana UK (asker) Dec 14, 2021:
Phil, Why on earth would the type of text matter? I simply need the En word for caloni (or calone in the singular), which is the answer provided by Texjax. This type of word only has one translation, it doesn't change depending on the context (which I provided by the way, in my entry above)!!!
philgoddard Dec 14, 2021:
But what is the text you're translating? That looks like a dictionary definition.
Ivana UK (asker) Dec 14, 2021:
The context is there Hi Phil, the context is there.

Calone: Termine con il quale si indicano sostanze normalmente contenute nei tessuti, dotate di azione antimitotica, cioè inibente la riproduzione delle cellule.

To which I can add this for further context:

I caloni epidermici sono prodotti dai cheratinociti in fase avanzata di proliferazione ed hanno la funzione di inibire le mitosi delle cellule dello strato basale
philgoddard Dec 14, 2021:
We need the context, please.
