This answer also make sense because dilation in the inferior vena cava (IVC) is used in echocardiography to approximate right atrial pressure. If the tricuspid (which connects the right atrium to the right ventricle) does not close properly and blood is pushed back into the right atrium during systole, that will increase the pressure in the right atrium, which in turn can lead to dilation of the IVC.
