Bachelor's degree in Peru Explanation: Low confidence level, because this kind of terminology varies enormously from one country to another. Nevertheless, if, as the question states, they're talking about the qualifications granted at the end of the University stage (al finalizar la carrera universitaria), they probably mean the difference between a bachelor's degree and a licentiate degree. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 6 hrs (2022-10-12 07:22:13 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Otherwise, it might refer to a high school diploma/certificate, as proposed by José Julián. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 9 hrs (2022-10-12 10:08:26 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Undergraduates usually get a degree at the end of their course, which usually last at least a few years, rather than a diploma, which usually involves a shorter course. Maybe these things are different in Peru. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bachelor%27s_degree |

Four-year undergraduate degree Explanation: Assuming the program in Peru takes four years. It could of course be "three-year". The idea is for the translator not to *evaluate* or *compare* the diploma to another educational system. Because of the differences in hours, credits, depth of curriculum and so on, we leave that to the experts. I quote here from "Educational Documents, Translation or Evaluation?" by George Fletcher. (Link below.) There are benchmarks common to most education systems throughout the world. First comes primary school, followed by secondary, followed by undergraduate education, graduate education, and upper graduate education, such as the doctorate. When we translate a secondary school diploma, a bachillerato from Colombia, for example, we will put “secondary school diploma.” https://www.globelanguage.com/pdf/ATAfinalarticle.pdf |
