Dutch term

Maatschappelijke BV (BVm)

Dutch to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general) BV vormen
I came across this in a document and googled it and found that the translation "social enterprise" is not favoured, according to this: De nieuwe ‘sociale’ onderneming zal de naam: maatschappelijk BV (BVM) krijgen in tegenstelling tot de optie: sociale BV. Er zijn namelijk enkele bezwaren aan de naam Sociale BV. Allereerst doet het teveel denken aan de letterlijke vertaling van de Engelse ‘social enterprise’. Hierdoor kan de illusie ontstaan dat de onderneming zich inzet voor mensen met een afstand tot de arbeidsmarkt, echter dat is een te beperkte interpretatie (zie definitie KPMG).

So would anyone have a better suggestion?

Leave it in Dutch

If you translate it, you'll render the whole paragraph meaningless. You could add a note saying that 'maatschappelijk' and 'sociaal' both have the same translation, and explaining what BV means.
Note from asker:
I think you are absolutely right. I was toying with that idea but wanted to know if any whizz kid out there had a better idea or had come across it in translation. I refert to Dutch with explanation in brackets.

n July 2020, the Dutch government announced its plans to introduce the BVm (maatschappelijke BV) in Dutch corporate law – see our previous In Context article. The BVm is a new type of private limited liability company for social entrepreneurs active in addressing societal issues. The new type of legal entity will make it easier to identify companies with a positive impact on society. This will in turn help social enterprises and stakeholders connect and do business with each other.

Moreover, there is also a lot of confusion concerning social enterprises in the Netherlands. Indeed, there is no specific legal form or policy framework for these initiatives yet, though the Dutch government announced in July 2020 that it intends to establish a legal form and framework for what it calls the “social limited-liability company” (maatschappelijke BV, or BVm).
