English term

computer-napping

English to Portuguese Tech/Engineering IT (Information Technology) cyber security
The film paints the internet as a wild west complete with black-hat robbers, white hat security agents, grey hat guns-for-hire who will hack or protect for the right price, and the rest of us: happy-go-lucky users armed with powerful tools and barely a clue about how to use them. The black hats are watching us closely as we enter our banking and credit information on online forms. And they are hijacking our increasingly powerful personal computers, computer-napping them into “botnets,” networks of compromised computers used collectively to attack websites with millions of messages per second until they crash. More than 10 percent of personal-use and 75 percent of business-use computers are hijacked each year in this way.

ure, your laptop has passwords, encrypted logins and biometric fingerprint readers. But what happens when the entire laptop is swiped? Say goodbye to the $1,000-plus asset and everything on it: confidential company and client information as well as any personal files, music, photos and more. According to a June study conducted for Dell by the Ponemon Institute, business travelers lose more than 12,000 laptops per week in U.S. airports. While some end up in the lost and found, others are victim to computer-napping. https://www.entrepreneur.com/science-technology/a-leash-on-y...

NAP (Network Access Protection) is designed to help administrators maintain the health of the computers on the network, which in turn helps maintain the overall integrity of the network.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/nap/about-na...

A botnet (short for “robot network”) is a network of computers infected by malware that are under the control of a single attacking party.
