In English (unlike Danish) you have two kinds of mullets:
grey mullet (family Mugilidae) - in Danish: multe
red mullet (family Mullidae) - in Danish: mulle
Mullus surmuletus -> (gulstribet) mulle

If you search for the scientific name Mullus surmuletus in Danish, you don't get "r�d mulle", but "mulle" or "stribet mulle". "R�d mulle" appears many places in Google (mostly recipes), but it seems to be in error. "Mulle" is backed by two encyclopaedias.

Jeg går efter billederne i mine kogebøger!
John Aytos ellers udmærkede \'Diner\'s Dictionary\' er svag, når det kommer til fisk.(Den hedder noget andet nu, udgivet som Oxford Paperback...)
Og Good Housekeepings New Cookery encyclopædia giver den samme forklaring som Jørgen, men ingen Latin navn.
