Condenser exhausting
Condenser exhausting involves the removal of air and other non-condensable gases from the steam space of power plant condensers. The purpose of removing these gases is to maintain the lowest possible turbine backpressure. Condenser initial evacuation (hogging)
In order to start a thermal power plant, a condenser must be brought from atmospheric pressure to vacuum. In some systems, requirements preclude the use of the condenser exhauster to perform this job. In these cases, a separate vacuum device is used.
