Checking out a chimney and fireplace; deciding the best way to clean it depending on the type it is (there are up to 10 different types of chimneys); laying down tarps around the fireplace; erecting a curtain that covers the fireplace then taping and sealing it.
If it’s an L-chimney, removing the section and taking it outside to clean it; going to the roof and starting to brush the chimney; twisting brush up and down the chimney several times for 10 to 15 minutes; checking with a flashlight to see if it’s clear (I can also tell by the sound if it’s clear).

they are referring to the covering of the fireplace in the house...tape and seal is so that the living room carpet does not turn black! (I had this done in my house)
once they have finished brushing, they will remove the curtain and all of the debris which fell down the chimney and gathered at the bottom.
