It is OK to be confused, Haneen. But it makes sense to explain why you are confused so we can help you.

Please note, Haneen, that the text you are translating is poorly written. Just look at the grammar! This is newspaper stuff (or worse). It can easily cause confusion. But if you "automatically assumed" the intended meaning is not literal, you should explain why.

As I am sure you know, even if the intended meaning is not literal, in most cases, the translation should be.

Example: If I say, "you are a lion," and you translate that أنت شجاع, you would have failed as a translator. The intent is not literal, but if you don't translate "lion" literally, you would have failed to preserve the integrity of the source text.

There are times when we must stray from this principle, but there has to be a compelling reason. And that is the reason we expect you to explain to us.

In this case, I believe that عواصم is not meant literally. What is intended is the centers of power advancing a particular ideology (called تطبيع). These centers of power encompass capitals, literally understood, but encompass more, in my opinion. And yet, I would still translate it "capitals," because there is no compelling reason why not to.

@Mr Fuad Happy feast. The asker sometimes gets confused due to the identical answers. Some answers sometimes need more time to be checked.A lot of sudden factors may affect his choice. iI think, the more the asker waits, the greater benefit he acquires. Sorry for any previous misunderstanding.

I automatically assumed that "capitals" would be too literal a translation, but if it does literally mean capitals like Cairo, Abu Dhabi, etc, then that would be a different story. I'm confused about the meaning itself rather than the translation.

Context When posting a question about a term that ordinarily does not require a dictionary look-up (like "capitals"), one would assume that the asker is already rejecting the ordinary standard meaning for some reason. The asker must explain the reason why they think the ordinary standard meaning and translation will not work for them. Otherwise, how can we help the asker? Any colleague who happens to believe that the ordinary standard meaning and translation are the right ones would have a right to feel that his/her answer will be rejected out of hand, which is not fair.
