Marketing
English term or phrase: Consideration (marketing)
Did anybody by any chance come accross a nominative equivalent? It is an indicator of the extent to which a given company, or its products, are considered by potential clients who are about to buy something that this company offers. Examples of use:
To stabilise profits, we have sacrificed both Consideration and Market Share.
Or: Consideration in the market place for our company has actually fallen.
Or:
Consideration drives market share...

zajimavost? atraktivita (ne tak presne)?

Explanation:
Only guessing, but can not come up with a better Czech word - then again, 95% of these marketing categories are used as English words in Czech, I'd go for Consideration and an explanation - with the possible translation above - in parentheses...

projevený zájem

Explanation:
Usually it would be measure by a number of recorded demonstrations of interest in the company, its service or product. Such demonstrations could be spontaneous or a result to marketing campaign and would take the form of phone calls, faxes, e-mails, or any other medium carrying the message requesting further information, clarification about the service, product, price, or even ways to purchase the items marketed.

ochota vzít v úvahu [nabídku výrobku/službu/firmu]

Explanation:
Now that I have the rest of the sentence, "Consideration drives market share and market share drives price", I am willing to try again: The consideration, i.e. the number of potential customers willing to just consider a company, it's product or service, is the potential market share. To make that potential a reality one has to set the price just right to convert all the potential customers to actual customers. Thus "Consideration drives market share and market share drives price". There are companies, products or services which any given potential customer just won't consider at any price under any circumstance, e.g. pornography. Some will accept pornography but not child pornography. Some will consider anything.

Just to make clear the logic of the dictum:

The size of the potential market share is given by the number of the potential customers willing to consider the offer. Once you have the number of potential customers considering you, the price will be determined by how many you are willing to lose by setting the price too high and letting them to go to the competition.

On the other hand, you may not care about the size of the actual market share and go for the price. In that situation the price would drive the market share. (But, that\'s just logic, not empirical marketing observation. :-)

Well, this is the second time I posted a grade without finishing the comment. Time to turn on the lamp and open my eyes!

I must agree with Peter Hladky. Not because the term is in a dictionary, but because the term he found there seems to be right as an elegant solution to the problem of capturing the functionality of the concept. (By the way, is that the whole title of the dictionary? It might be worth looking at!)
