This is from an article on (the properties (defects) of) pine / pitch wood:
"Breeding for tree growth and form has led to lower incidence of reaction wood, *wandering pith* and knot associated defects"

Whilst I did find the term on one website (and you probably will), I cannot find a valid translation.
"Moelle flottante" "Moelle sinueuse" do not seem to exist.
