Contexte :
Raman Microscopy is becoming established as the analytical technique most effective in the in situ study of inorganic pigments on manuscripts. The information it provides is important for conservation purposes. In Figure 2 the technique is seen applied to a thirteenth century Byzantine/Syriac Gospel lectionary in order to identify the pigments present.

@Oddie: C'est la première fois que je lis que Mosul fasait partie de l'Empire Byzantin au 13eme s. (http://pubs.acs.org/hotartcl/ac/98/feb/byzant.html).
Je ne comprends pas comment les auteurs peuvent écrire ça.
