jccantrell Aug 16, 2004:
Osteo. Phy makes sense as he is NOT an MD, but a DO, a recognized physician in the US, but NOT an MD. There is no doctor of obstetrics in the USA. My wife is a board-certified geriatrician, but her degree and title are still MD, the board stuff is added.
Siegfried Armbruster Aug 16, 2004:
I have never contacted somebody after a question was closed. Yes a D.O. as "Osteopathic Physician" does exist in the US. But you should really check in google for "doctor of obstetrics". In your context the "Osteopathic Physician" hardly makes sense.

Osteopathic Physician

See this link. NOT a midwife degree, but rather a doctor of osteopathy degree.

disagree Siegfried Armbruster : osteopathy 1. Osteopathie f, Knochenkrankheit. It seems that a D.O. (board-certified doctor of obstetrics) DOES exist in the US

Except there is NO Doctor of Obstetrics in the USA, he is just an MD specializing in ob/gyn usually. D.O. is another medical degree in the USA. Check the link.
