Hi,
I need to translate **water, earth, air, fire** into Latin, in the context of the names of the four natural elements.
For example, the term "fire" can be translated as "flamma" or "ignis", but I don´t know which one is better for this context, the same happens with earth: "humus" or "terra"? and with air: "aeris" or "aer"?
Are there any special Latin characters in these words (such as Æ )?
Any accents on the words? (Such as âêr )
The spelling of the words needs to be very precise.
Thanks a lot in advance!
Juan

These are the standard renderings. I do not have the possibility to give you any quotations right now, but a Google search of the four should provide enough sources.
No need to use any diacritics, even with 'aer' (dictionaries sometimes use a diacritic on e to indicate it's not a diphthong, but this is not done in actual texts).
