English term
Who do you think you are?

For a novelty gift, a client wants this well-worn cliche translated into Latin.
It's "Who do you think you are?" as in "Who do you think you are to think you can change the world?" but I only need the "Who do you think you are?" part.

Qualem te esse putas?
Huic Ludovicus bene respondit. Mea enim translatio vim 'who' modo vehementius dicit (i.e., 'What sort of person do you think that you are?').

Comment: "This was a very difficult call, as they were both excellent answers. Salve!"

quid hominis putas te esse?
I am using the same structure as "Quid tu hominis es?" (What man are you, what kind of man are you?) (Terentius), or "quid mulieris uxorem habes?" (what woman do you have as wife?)
Note from asker:
Thank you for an excellent answer, even though I chose the other one. It was a very difficult call for me. Salve! |
