A compound word originating from old norse "ulfr" (wolf) and "skari" (pack). Should be appropriate for a Viking game.

Reply to asker\'s note: The suggested answers are synonyms. None less correct than the others. Just pick what sounds good to the ear. As you can see, all the answers use the same word for wolf -- ulv (ulve- when part of a compund word) -- the second part means pack, and the translation of that has many possibilities in this context, but the basic meaning is the same.

: well argued for, but no hits on norwegian websites for ulveskare. -"skare" also has biblical connotations - "en himmelsk hærskare av engler". Ulveflokk is definately the most common word here (over 500 hits on google).

If this was about finding a word to use in prose, I too would suggest 'ulveflokk,' but since the question is for a name to be used in a role game set in the Viking era I'd choose something that is not used as much in contemporary common language.

Dette er et vanlig uttrykk på norsk. F.eks. 'Ulven er et flokkdyr'. Ref. Kirkeby: flokk: 4) (hunder, ulver) pack.

Discussion
If not a pack, what are groups of wolves called? Does this difference also apply to old Norse?
