English term

Pillows

English to Spanish Marketing Advertising / Public Relations
Hello,

I have translated "Pillows" (the ones you put on a sofa as a decorative element, not the ones you use to sleep) as "Almohadones" in order to avoid the word "Cojines."

Is "Almohadones" understandable in most of Latino speaking countries like Mexico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela...

Is there another word to translate "Pillows" understandable in most of these countries?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks very much to everybody for your helpful comments. I agree that almohadones could be the most neutral and will be understood since the audience will be seeing at the same time a lot of "cojines" of different sizes on a sofa. Thanks again!
Silvia Guiu Sep 5, 2020:
Then, as you say, Taña, the best would be to use "almohadones".
Taña Dalglish Sep 5, 2020:
@ Silvia The asker has said that the target audiences are the latino countries (USA Hispanics), not Spain. To me, it would appear that the most neutral term would be "almohadones", as by references, it suggests that "cojínes" is used more and understood in Mexico. @ Chgutti, I suggest, it may be best if you explain in your native language (Spanish) (I don't see the relevance of ".... at the same time I use the word almohadones" with the 1st part of the statement). Regards.
Silvia Guiu Sep 5, 2020:
chgutti (asker) Sep 5, 2020:
There will be a photo of a sofa full of pillows at the same time I use the word almohadones.
Silvia Guiu Sep 5, 2020:
@ chgutti Sorry, what does this mean, "There will be supporting the word a visual of a sofa with pillows"? I am English-speaking and I don't understand this comment.

I'm trying to avoid cojines...
chgutti (asker) Sep 5, 2020:
The target audience is to cover as much as possible latino countries (USA Hispanics)
Cecilia Gowar Sep 5, 2020:
Which is your target audience? In Argentina we would use ¨almohadón¨, not cojín.
Juan Jacob Sep 5, 2020:

Just a suggestions to be a bit more descriptive..... The use of cojines is widely used as well

I reiterate what Juan Jacob and Cecila have said. The term you use depends on your target audience!
