I've re-opened the question. Dear ProZians, I know a month has passed, but this is a long translation that is not due until February. I just received this email from the curator:
A trophy is a decorative motif, used frequently from the renaissance forwards, which depicts a group of objects or attributes as if suspended by a fillet. They derive from the triumphal and processional decorations of ancient Rome, where they were stylized representations of the spoils carried off in war (hence trophies). In the eighteenth century they were often used on wall paneling, and often featured components that were appropriate to the rooms they decorated: trophies of fish and game for dining rooms; musical instruments or artists’ materials in salons, etc. Pastoral attributes, objects and instruments associated with shepherds and shepherdesses were used in many interiors and on many objects, particularly those where a light and romantic touch was sought. The trophy on the etui shows a shepherd’s hat; a lyre; a houette or shepherd’s staff; and a musette or rustic bagpipe. To translate iconographicaly: What could be easier and more natural than to make beautiful music together? In Spanish it would be "trofeos pastoriles".

Roxana tiene razón, es una corriente artístistica. Acabo de recibir de mi cliente la imagen del dichoso alfiletero y es imposible ver su diseño. Después de indagar un poco más, he encontrado un par de referencias bastante antiguas que mencionan los trofeos pastoriles y los describen como decoraciones de guirlandas y flores, no tiene nada que ver con pastores. En este contexto "pastoral" quiere decir campestre, bucólico. Creo que optaré por una traducción liberal, basada en el significado de "pastoral trophies", "ornamentos/decoración bucólica". Gracias a todos por su ayuda.

Gracias a todos por responder. En cuanto al significado de "trophy" en inglés, según la definición mencionada abajo, me temo que "trofeo" en español no significa lo mismo.
