drinking companion
It appears to be an Arabic name. I'm not sure if *drinking* refers to alcohol.

A boon companion
Here is an excerpt from Encyclopædia Britannica:
Barani also spelled BARNI, the first known Muslim to write a history of India; he resided for 17 years at Delhi as nadim (boon companion) of Sultan Muhammad ibn Tughluq.
E. Cobham Brewer’s Dictionary of Phrase and Fable:
Boon Companion: A convivial companion. A bon vivant is one fond of good living. “Who leads a good life is sure to live well.” (French, bon, good.)
Kenneth G. Wilson’s The Columbia Guide to Standard American English:
A boon companion: a cliché that is the only use left of boon as adjective, meaning “favorable, pleasant, convivial”

intimate companion, drinking companion
Both of the above answers are correct, but partial. Ajeeb Dictionary (on ajeeb.com) defines äÏíã (pronounced NADEEM, sometimes spelled NADIM), as follows:
1. boon companion, close or intimate companion, friend, fellow, crony, consort, comrade, companion, compeer, associate, chum, pal
2. drinking companion
Al-Munjid Arabic dictionary agrees.
