Slots being a time period for take off or landing preserved or earmarked for a particular flight.
Officially: "a reservation for an instrument flight rule takeoff or landing by an air carrier or an aircraft in air transportation."
The relating issues are: terminal or stand capacity, night restrictions, etc.
