Dependendo do contexto... Este conceito inscreve-se por exemplo no âmbito das "novas oportunidades" e aí a expressão usada é essa: reconhecimento, validação e certificação de competências. Sucede que na "école de la deuxième chance" a expressão usada, "validation d'acquis" é complementada com o termo "de l'expérience", o que vem juntar aos conhecimentos também as competências adquiridas, ou seja, somar conhecimentos, não só teóricos mas também práticos, adquiridos ao longo da vida.
