Tiene sentido lo que dices pero por otra parte aparentemente se usan en cada caso como sinónimos. Espero que aparezca un especialista y nos lo aclare.
Engarzar/engastar ya está contemplado previamente con el verbo «sertir». ¿Qué sentido tendría repetirlo? |

Por lo que vi en Google es un tipo de tallado antiguo, donde las facetas están por debajo.
