Hi,
I’m sorry, but I only had this sentence when I posted the request. In the meantime, I’ve had a chat with the author and we’ve agreed on using “constituent review” (On the first day of each month a constituent review will take place on the basis of the XYZ Index). The context is actually the criteria of inclusion of shares for an index based on the XYZ Index…

Since the subject area is "Bus/Financial - Investment / Securities / Index composition", I was assuming it was a legal investment document, which is why I chose "record date" as a translation of "Stichtag".
I agree that my answer is sloppy in that the answer I gave ("record date") was for the "Stichtag" part of the word, but I focused on the "-aufnahme" part (i.e. the verb "record") in the example translation. I will change my answer.
