German term
in den starken
German to English
Medical
Medical: Health Care
CSF puncture, spinal tap
In a German medical report of a multiple sclerosis patient there appears the following:
"Die Diagnose stütze sich auf wiederholte MRT Untersuchungen, eine Liquorpunktion mit dem Nachweis von oligoklonalen Banden sei in den starken durchgeführt worden."
I would appreciate help on the meaning "in den starken" here. Or could it possible be a typo or could text be missing?
Thanks,
Stephen

see discussion. The patient informed the doctor that he/she had this procedure done in the US; that's why "sei" is used.

: If you say both phrases out loud, that makes a lot of sense!

: But not necessarily informed by patient, see "stütze". Could also be simply quoting a report.

Comment: "Thanks, Susanne. With the context and the use of the "sei", as you pointed out, I think you are right, it is a typo. error."

"in den starken" is missing a noun or a capital, at least.
