German term or phrase: die Spektroskopie spinpolarisierter Elektronen aus Festkörpern
I am translating a short bio for a speaker at a conference who has a PhD in physics. In the bio it states that he developed a new experimental technique and the text refers to "die Spektroskopie spinpolarisierter Elektronen aus Festkörpern".

Here's the sentence:
... [er] realisierte im Rahmen seiner Dissertation an der Uni XYZ mit der Spektroskopie spinpolarisierter Elektronen aus Festkörpern eine neue experimentelle Technik.

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me who understands more about physics than I do. Thanks!

English translation:the study of solid-state materials via spin-polarized electron spectroscopy
Explanation:
(with the development of) a novel experimental technique for the study of solid-state materials via spin-polarized electron spectroscopy

Although the German is vague, I think that a literal translation will be too weird in English. Spectroscopy is not performed on electrons but on substances using properties of electrons or nuclei.

Spin-polarized electron spectroscopies offer the opportunity to simultaneously study the magnetic properties and the underlying electronic structure of surfaces and thin films. In this chapter various spin-polarized spectroscopic techniques and their application to ultrathin films are described. Polarized electron spectroscopies rely on the use of a polarized electron beam or on polarization analysis of electrons emitted from the sample. Recent developments in spin polarized electron sources and spin polarimeters will be discussed.

This is rightfully filed under "Physics" (take note Nobel Prize committee). However, spectroscopy is an essential tool for chemists.

spectroscopy of spin-polarized electrons from solids

Explanation:
I don't know anything about this subject either, but in the age of Google, I don't think you need to! You could also say "emitted by" instead of "from", and "solid bodies" instead of solids".

Asker: Thanks so much for taking the time to research this. I found about the same thing when I googled, but wasn't sure if it made sense or not.

-> Yes, that's probably more elegant. Thanks.
