Green area Explanation: Nothing more complicated required here... "Green area" is a standard term to describe small strips of grass/vegetation/shrubbery etc. |

a grass verge (beside the road) Explanation: I think that´s meant here, it´s a relatively narrow strip of grass along the road or in avenues, boulevards. |

central reservation / median strip Explanation: This may mean areas of grass between opposing streams of traffic: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_reservation |

(road) verge Explanation: For the strip between carriageways "central reservation" is more common, but "verge" can be used for both when referring to the vegetation. "Nature strip" and all sorts of variants seem to be used in the US, Australia etc, but none of them sounds familiar to me. |
