pay the buyer

Your author is obviously fond of more elegant Hebrew and prefers לסלק to לשלם although they are basically the same. לשלם is the word used for a payment of any sort whereas לסלק is generally used in the sense of "to repay", "to pay off" or to "defray". I'm not at all sure that it should be used to refer to a payment of interest.
