Portuguese term

Cozinheiro de 1ª

There isn't much context here. Does anyone know what a 'Cozinheiro de 1ª' is?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Discussion

Paulinho Fonseca Apr 23, 2015:
I agree with Muriel, Arthur and Gabriel. It's related to the level of service and not to the role name/description itself. :)
Tania Pires (asker) Apr 23, 2015:
@ Everyone Thank you but I had already closed this question a long time ago because, thanks to Ana's help (and many ads online), I found the English equivalent 'chef de partie', as Beatriz also put it on her latest answer. So, thank you anyway, but this question has been closed for several hours.
gninolps (X) Apr 23, 2015:

Primeira ordem? Primeira linha?
Lázaro Borges Apr 23, 2015:
There is now way it is referring to the qualities or excellence of the cook, since the first sentence refer to his position in the cooking line of the first restaurant (Tsuru da Quinta do Lago), therefore, the second sentence also refers to his position in the second one (Bica do Sapato).
gninolps (X) Apr 23, 2015:
Arthur Dias Apr 23, 2015:
I agree with Muriel I also think it's a hyperbole, and would use "first-class chef"
Muriel Vasconcellos Apr 23, 2015:
My interpretation I don't think it's a title, like 'chef de cuisine' or 'sous-chef'. I think it's hyperbole, as in 'first-class chef' or 'top-rated chef'.
Tania Pires (asker) Apr 23, 2015:
Ajuda Obrigada!
Ana Vozone Apr 23, 2015:
Não sei se ajuda Imagens de organigramas
https://www.google.pt/search?q=kitchen hierarchy&espv=2&biw=...

Tania Pires (asker) Apr 23, 2015:

agree T o b i a s : 1st line cook e.g. http://toronto.craigslist.ca/tor/fbh/4972327735.html Although perhaps 'chef de partie' more appropriate for Europe.

thanks!
neutral Muriel Vasconcellos : I think this is too specific. It simply means that he's a first-rate chef.

Hi Muriel, did you take a look at the scribd document and job posts? It seems quite common as a specific position in Portugal (although not in Brazil).

first-rate or top-rate chef

I don't think it's a job description. As many have pointed out, it simply means that he's the best. I hope you reconsider your decision.
