Buenas:

Acabo de traducir una partida de nacimiento española de 1979 de dos páginas. En el margen superior del documento (ambas páginas) aparecen las letras "L" y "P" asociadas a unos números. La "L" se mantiene igual en ambas páginas con el número "004899", mientras que la "P" cambia del número "005" en la primera página, al "006" en la segunda página. Deduzco pues que la "P" será página, al incrementarse una cifra. No sé si la "L" será un código para la localidad. Si alguien me puede ayudar se lo agradecería mucho.

The L stands for "legajo" on civil registry documents:
1.
Conjunto de papeles archivados, generalmente atados, que tratan de un mismo asunto.
2.
AMÉRICA
Conjunto de informaciones, documentos o papeles recopilados, referentes a una persona o un asunto.
"el legajo de un estudiante"

The sworn translator I work with translates it as "file", so just replace the L with F. See the reference below also.
