Ukrainian term

Слава Ісусу Христу

Ukrainian to English Other Religion Religion
Embarrassing as it is, I've no idea how to say the same thing in English... Is it Hail? Glory be? Why would a person start a letter with this phrase?
Sorry, I plead total paganism.

Comment: "This is a tough decision :-) I think that "Blessed be the Lord" will sound more natural to an English-speaking person, while Glory to Jesus is more literal and carries the Greek (or Russian) Orthodox flavor. Actually, I have a feeling that, in this particular case, Blessed be the Lord was the original phrase subsequently translated into Ukrainian. Many thanks to both of you."

И греко-католики, и православные на английский переводят одинаково : Glory to Jesus Christ!

Желаю удачи !
Peer comment(s):

agree Kenneth E Olsen : This is the common greeting through the year for Ukrainian Orthodox and Ukrainian Catholics. (There are different ones during Easter and Christmas season). It is the custom to open all correspondence with it or Glory to Jesus Christ for English speakers
