I am translating a transcript into English. I wonder if there is an equivalent in English.

This is the correct term. I was involved in these activities for many years, and it is in the Trilingual Geotechnical Dictionary (En-Ru-Uk) that I compiled (with co-authors) and published in 1992 in Kiev.

1. Звичайно, вишукування=изыскания; я свого часу сам працював у такому «Відділі вишукувань»

2. БАРС – звичайно, великий словник, але це не означає, що він позбавлений помилок. Зокрема, тут (у Штатах) ніхто так не каже про вишукування – investigations, тільки survey. Перше слово звичайно стосується або слідства, або науки.

1. По-перше, в Російсько-українському словнику наукової термінології (Математика, Фізика, Техніка, Наука про землю та космос), Київ, Наукова думка, 1998, знаходимо:

изыскивать, изыскать (геол., гидр., техн.) - вишукувати и шукати, вишукати

тобто \"вишукування\" є не що інше, як \"изыскания\".

2. По-друге, в БАРПС, Москва, \"Русский язык\", 1991, маємо:

investigations - изыскания,

більш того:
engineering investigations - инженерные изыскания,

а також:
field investigations - полевые изыскания,
site investigations - геодезические и геологические изыскания на стройплощадке,
soil investigations - почвенно-геологические изыскания

То чому це \"no investigations here\" я Вас питаю?
