Source text - Portuguese O conceito das cidades inteligentes emerge, em 2010, com o uso do termo pela União Europeia para qualificar ações e projetos sustentáveis no espaço urbano (Dameri e Cocchia, 2013), com vistas ao cenário “Europa 2020 - Estratégia para um crescimento inteligente, sustentável e inclusivo”, tendo por metas o emprego, a pesquisa e inovação, as mudanças climáticas e a energia, a educação e o combate à pobreza. Como já analisado anteriormente por alguns autores, cada ciência especializada recorta no fenômeno urbano um certo “campo”, um “domínio” - o seu, iluminando-o à sua maneira (Lefebvre, 1969).
O continente europeu, como o resto do mundo, depara-se com o enorme desafio da geração de energia e do combate às mudanças climáticas. Ele hoje depende de combustíveis fósseis para 80% da sua energia e, até 2050, precisa reduzir as emissões de gases de efeito de estufa em 80%. Isto exige uma reinvenção completa do seu sistema de energia. Para isso, a inteligência está presente especialmente nos objetivos estratégicos do Projeto europeu SETIS – Strategic Energy Technologies Information Systems, para redução das emissões de gases do efeito estufa nas cidades em 40% até 2020, por meio do uso de tecnologias apropriadas e medidas políticas nos campos da eficiência energética, transporte sustentável, produção de baixo carbono, entre outras.
A ideia surge também a partir de campanhas agressivas de grandes multinacionais das indústrias de tecnologia e serviços, como IBM, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Apple, entre outras emergentes, desde o início dos anos 2000, para gerar novos mercados para tecnologias e serviços.
Apesar do conteúdo vago e utópico das adjetivações às cidades, a partir de cada uma delas, buscou-se, em seu tempo, a proposição de indicadores que pudessem mensurar o quão saudáveis, resilientes e inteligentes as cidades estão se tornando. Com o apoio destas narrativas, proliferam-se normas, estudos acadêmicos nacionais e internacionais particularmente focados na relação ou interação das sociedades urbanas mediadas por tecnologias digitais.
No Brasil, tomam-se de exemplos diversas iniciativas, tais como, desde 2002, a publicação sobre Indicadores de Desenvolvimento Sustentável, do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística - IBGE, que seguiu orientação e incentivo iniciais da Comissão de Desenvolvimento Sustentável das Nações Unidas (Malheiros, Philippi e Coutinho, 2008); a plataforma de indicadores propostos pela Rede Nossa São Paulo, Rede Social Brasileira por Cidades Justas e Sustentáveis e Instituto Ethos, no âmbito do Programa Cidades Sustentáveis, desde 2010; a norma ABNT ISO 37120:2014 - Sustainable Development in Communities - Indicators for City Services and Quality of Life, da International Organization for Standardization- ISO, que define e estabelece metodologia para um conjunto de indicadores para orientar e medir o desempenho dos serviços e qualidade de vida das cidades; e, ainda, o conjunto dos 232 indicadores para avaliar os objetivos e metas da Agenda 2030, desenvolvido pela Inter-Agency and Expert Group on SDG Indicators e adotado, em 2017, pela General Assembly on Work of the Statistical Commission, das Nações Unidas.
Translation - English The concept of smart cities emerges in 2010 with the use of the term by the European Union to qualify sustainable actions and projects in the urban space (DAMERI & COCCHIA, 2013), with a view to the scenario “Europe 2020 - A strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth”, targeting employment, research and innovation, climate change and energy, education and the fight against poverty. As previously analyzed by a few authors, each specialized science cuts into the urban phenomenon a certain 'field’ or 'domain' - its own. It sheds light on it in their own way (LEFEBVRE, 1969).
The European continent, like the rest of the world, faces the enormous challenge of electricity generation and combating climate change. It currently depends on fossil fuels for 80% of its energy and, by 2050, needs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80%. This requires a complete reinvention of its energy system. For this, intelligence is especially present in the strategic objectives of the European Project SETIS - Strategic Energy Technologies Information Systems, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in cities by 40% by 2020, through the use of appropriate technologies and policy measures in the fields of energy efficiency, sustainable transport, low carbon production, among others.
The idea also comes from aggressive campaigns by major technology and services multinationals, such as IBM, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Apple, among others, since the early 2000s, in order to generate new markets for technologies and services.
In spite of the vague and utopian content of the cities’ adjectivations, each one of them sought, in its time, the proposition of indicators that could measure how healthy, resilient and intelligent the cities are becoming. With the support of these narratives, national and international academic studies and norms proliferated, particularly those focused on the relationship or interaction of urban societies mediated by digital technologies.
In Brazil, several initiatives can be taken as an example, such as, since 2002, a publication on Indicators of Sustainable Development from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística, IBGE), which followed the initial guidance and encouragement of the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development (Malheiros, Philippi e Coutinho, 2008); the indicators platform proposed by Rede Nossa São Paulo, Rede Social Brasileira por Cidades Justas and Instituto Ethos, within the framework of the Sustainable Cities Program, since 2010; the publication, in 2014, of the norm ABNT/ISO 37120:2014 - Sustainable Development in Communities - Indicators for City Services and Quality of Life, by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), adopted by the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT), which defines and establishes a methodology for a set of indicators to guide and measure the performance of services and the quality of life of cities, and should be used with other ISO standards; as well as the set of 232 indicators to evaluate the goals and targets of sustainable development of the 3030Agenda developed by the Inter-Agency and Expert Group on SDG Indicators and adopted in 2017 by the United Nations General Assembly on Work of the Statistical Commission (United Nations, 2017).

Content is everything. Because even without the marketing budget or ad spend, you can leverage content to get your message out. And by creating content that offers value to people, you can build a loyal following — a community hungry for your content.
However, this can seem secondary to other focuses. Marketing a product or service and bringing traffic seems to be our biggest priority and we forget the value of building a community. While all these concepts are crucial, putting them first won’t make you successful.

1. Create Valuable Content Consistently
Content is king. And while this may seem overplayed, it’s true. Content generates engagement and builds a loyal following. It stands at the forefront of a business.
Stop thinking you need to create content for your brand; you need to create it for your target audience. Your content should appeal to your audience in different ways, too. So think of ways to make your content more useful and valuable to your readers.
2. Understand Your Readers
Knowing who you’re talking to is crucial. This way, you’ll know what they need and the problems they’re going through, and you can come up with solutions to their problems. You’ll entice them to visit and read your content again and again.
