I primarily translate from German into English although I have had a lot of prose practise during my first degree.
I specialise in translating technical, business, legal and scientific source texts - in particular astronomy, astrophysics, vulcanology and seismology - .
I successfully completed a master of arts in translation with language technology about 6 months ago. This involved translating technical ST's using the CAT tools TRADOS and IBM translation manager. I feel I'm confident now in creating dictionary, translation memory to translate a German text or an English text into German.
During my masters I created several glossaries using Multiterm, lingo in particular on astrophysics and astronomy and plate tectonics - mainly vulcanology and seismology.
During my year abroad in Germany I completed translations for a software company back in GB. It meant mainly translating company leaflets, training presentations as well as contractual or legal documents.
I have also translated, into German, presentation material for the construction management department at the University of Reading. |
