I have extensive subtitling, translating, proofreading, transcribing and editing experience, which spans over 10 years.
I have worked both as a freelancer and a head of department on various productions - locally and internationally. The clients and companies I've worked for range from; SABC, Amazon, Mzansi Magic and Netflix.
My extensive experience in this field includes being an H.O.D. for the subtitling department at Isidingo(a multilingual soapie on SABC 3 - which has since been discontinued) under Endemol SA. A freelancer for a post-production company based in Kenya, Nairobi - Hiventy Africa... which has now merged with TransPerfect. I've also done some work for productions under Mzansi Magic.
I have a long list of productions I did some work on. These include; Kings of Jo'burg Seasons 1&2, How to Ruin Christmas Seasons 1, 2&3, Savage Beauty Season 1, Unseen Season 1, The Kings of Queenstown, Mangeta Coal, Soon Comes Night Season 1(all for Netflix and Amazon), Isidingo(SABC 3), Live It Season 3(SABC 1), Status The Respect Show with HHP(SABC 1), Clash of the Choirs(Mzansi Magic) etc...
My experience, passion and skills acquired over the years in this field, have validated and confirmed my love and acumen for anything related to the above-mentioned skills and experience. I'm certain that it is not only work for me but a calling and a lifetime career at that. Having worked as an H.O.D. has sharpened my admin, communication(both written and verbal), organisational and leadership skills, which enables me to work both in a supervisorial and team-member role.
In addition, I have also worked as a cabin crew member and travelled locally, continentally and internationally. This, I believe has broadened my world-view and horizon - enabling me to relate and converse with people from various backgrounds and personalities. I was able to learn and to see the importance of language and communication, which greatly influences my current line of work - subtitling/translation(s).
