fine stainless steel tube

There is a long article about its manufacture at

from which it is apparent that one of its uses is for hypodermic needles, which may be where the name comes from.

hypodermic tube

a hypodermic tube can be of may materials - often from steel, but also alloy, plastic, combination,even glass.... it is a hollow thing, a tube, to get something under the skin - hypo-dermic.

hypotube

Hypotubes are small diameter tubes used in medical applications. They can be used as needles and guidewire tubing. They can be tapered, they can have ptfe/teflon coating.
