Internet as a phenomenon
"Internetisation" doesn't exist in English - Google hits will only show websites from non-English speaking countries. I have used the spread of internet for the moment. Anybody think of anything snappier?

The word "internetting" seems to have a reasonable number (50,000 or so) of google hits, and may possibly fill your bill. It certainly sounds rather better to me than the "isation/ization" alternatives!

If we ignore McLuhan for the moment, the Internet is just a medium, so IMO it doesn't make too sense to speak of 'internetization' (just as it doesn't make much sense to speak of 'telephonication' or 'televisification') -- at least not in English.
There are already a few terms in use, such as 'global electronic networking', if you want something fairly generic, and if you are talking about the Internet you could always say global penetration of the Internet, widespread use of the Internet, prevalence of the Internet paradigm, etc.
Another factor is that once again the Internet is just a medium in the sense that it provides the transort medium for the World Wide Web, which is what all but a neglible minority of persons actually use. In Germany (as in some other countries), Internet is often used as a synonym for WWW, but the distinction is more generally recognised in English-speaking countries (well, at least NA), and it might be relvant in your contest.

It thought I had probably just made this up, but a quick Google did throw up some recent usage in what appear to a document written by a native speakers. This might just be their attempt to coin a new term though.
