Is this the modern version of a milk jug? Or is it something more specific to dairy farming?

Hi and thanks for the info. We're not really allowed to give answers here, but I don't see how you can avoid using milk tap. It can't really be wrong imo.

Milk tap, it is... Sometimes you avoid the most simple explanations since they seem to easy!! I will go with this.

This is Dutch rather than Belgian. And yes, I had seen both those post on the internet. Can't find any reference in any of my dictionaries either. The reference is certainly not with regard to a similar modern package, however it does not clarify itself further.

milk tap

A simple tap attached to a dispensing machine which allows a person to pull it down and dispense milk, similar to a tap in a pub which dispenses beer or cola. The term is also used in a more technical context in relation to milking machines but this is the meaning of your excerpt.
