: As far as I know this means "Environmentally friendly". The difference, to my best knowledge, is that environmentally sound is the philosophy/policy and commitment to be take the environment into consideration, and environmentally friendly is the product

: Something environmentally friendly may be a fad of the Green lobby but the masses won't accept it. Environmentally sound, on the other hand, implies balance and sustainability, solid, reasoned proposals that will stand the test of time.
