English term

go outside the wire

English to French Other Military / Defense militaire/défense
- Navy counterterrorism intel has suffered leaks over the last few months. Al Qaeda has managed to get a step ahead of us.
- We suspect a mole.
- N. has been analyzing data trying to look for a common denominator. I had no idea it involved Lieutenant A.
- What's his connection?
- Well, Lieutenant A. had gone outside the wire, working contacts in Djibouti, gathering valuable intel, some of which had been compromised. I wanted to talk to him about who he shared the information with.
- Yeah, he cooperate?
- When I called him, he seemed preoccupied. He said he couldn't talk. He'd get back to me.

Maj Broomfield has been to Afghanistan before. On his previous tour, he didn’t get outside the wire as much
